Umax shell and tube heat exchangers utilize Umax advanced ceramic tubing, coupled with PTFE tube sheets and corrosion resistant o-rings; resulting in the industry’s most corrosion resistant heat exchanger. Umax ceramic shell & tube heat exchangers are the preferred technology in demanding corrosive applications compared to expensive reactive metals and exotic materials, vulnerable glass, graphite, or not-so-conductive teflon units. Recommended process fluids include mixed acids, hydrofluoric acid, free halogens and caustics.

The extreme hardness, high theoretical density, excellent strength properties, and absence of free silicon make Umax advanced ceramic inherently corrosion and erosion proof. It is the preferred material choice for processes involving mixed acids, bromine, hydrofluoric acid, free halogens, caustic, and other very aggressive reducing or oxidizing environments.

  • Umax advanced ceramic is inherently corrosion and erosion-proof. All Umax tubing carries with it a two year unconditional guarantee against corrosion and erosion.
  • If required, the tubes can easily be replaced in the field using common tools.
  • Extremely resistant to fouling.
  • 100% resistant to thermal shock and erosion damage throughout its operating range.
  • Designed and tested per ASME SEC VIII Div 1, TEMA, ANSI, ASTM, and stringent in-house standards

CG Thermal’s Impervite shell and tube exchanger design is the “work horse” of the industry. Utilizing our proprietary grade of phenolic impregnated graphite it offers excellent service life in corrosive condensing, vaporizing, absorbing, heating and cooling applications. Compared to other graphite heat exchanger designs it has competitive capital investment cost, high reliability, and high return on investment.

Impervite is a composite material consisting of a graphite substrate impregnated using a proprietary phenolic impregnation process. Impervite is ideally suited for processing mixed acids, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, nitric acid, waste acids, and chlorinated hydrocarbons. It has excellent machining, physical, and thermal properties.

  • Designed and tested per ASME SEC VIII Div 1, TEMA, ANSI, ASTM, and stringent in-house standards.
  • Large cross-sectional process flow areas for low pressure drop and/or high fouling applications.
  • Up to 100 psig (6.89 barg) and 340 Deg F (171 Deg C) operating conditions.
  • Exceptional fatigue resistance.
  • High thermal efficiency.
  • Tube diameter options include 7/8″ (22 mm) and 1.50″ (38 mm) inside diameter.
  • Heat transfer areas range from 8 sq-ft (.74 sq-M) to 15,500 sq-ft (1,448 sq-M).

Impervite cubic exchangers offer the maximum heat transfer area in the smallest envelope size. In high fouling applications, easy access to both process and service holes make cleaning convenient and simple. Our cubic design is very well suited for inter-changer applications.

CG Thermal Impervite cubic block heat exchangers offer many of the same features as our heavy duty cylindrical block heat exchangers and are fabricated using the same high quality impervious graphite, but typically at a lower investment cost.

  • Maximum heat transfer area in minimum envelope size
  • High thermal efficiency, even with low temperature approach and temperature cross
  • Single piece, monolithic Impervite cubic element
  • All the metal components can be supplied with a full ASME SEC VIII Div 1 code stamp
  • Design allows easy access to both the service and process side of the unit, making them easy to clean and maintain

The Multi-Blox heat exchanger by CG Thermal is designed for your most demanding processes. We use some of the longest blocks in the industry, reducing gaskets, eliminating potential leak paths and eliminating troublesome point loading. We use wide process/service hole spacing to minimize operating stresses within the unit.

Design pressures up to 150 psig (10kg/sq-M). CG Thermal cylindrical block heat exchangers are designed and built for reliable non-stop service: 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
